How IQOS TEREA works

Each TEREA stick holds processed tobacco with a small metal strip at its core. When you insert the stick into an IQOS ILUMA, the device’s SMARTCORE induction system heats that strip, which warms the tobacco from the inside without setting it alight. The tobacco gives off an aerosol you draw through the filter. There is no flame and no ash.

A session lasts 14 puffs or about 6 minutes, whichever comes first. Some newer ILUMA i devices add up to 4 extra puffs within the same 6 minutes (IQOS FAQ). Because the heater sits inside the stick, ILUMA has no heating blade and, according to PMI, needs no cleaning. TEREA sticks are made only for ILUMA, and PMI warns against using them in older IQOS devices (PMI launch release, 2021).

How a VOZOL vape works

A VOZOL disposable has no tobacco inside it at any point. E-liquid soaks a wick that sits against a heating coil. When you draw on the mouthpiece, the battery fires the coil, the liquid turns into an aerosol, and it travels through the airflow channel to you. The flavour, throat feel and nicotine all come from the liquid.

The liquid is made of propylene glycol (PG), vegetable glycerin (VG), flavouring and nicotine. PG is thin and carries flavour and throat feel; VG is thicker and makes the visible cloud denser. Models with mesh coils, such as the VOZOL Gear Power 20000, heat the liquid more evenly than a basic coil, which helps the flavour hold up across a long puff count.

How they feel to use

TEREA gives a tighter, warmer draw with the dry character of heated tobacco, and each session has a fixed end. VOZOL disposables usually have a looser draw and a cooler, denser aerosol, and you can take a single puff whenever you like. People who have smoked cigarettes for years often find TEREA more familiar on the throat; people who already vape tend to prefer VOZOL.

Can you use a TEREA stick in a VOZOL?

No. A TEREA stick is a solid tobacco consumable built for induction heating in an ILUMA. A VOZOL is a sealed liquid vape with a resistive coil. The shape, the power system and the heating principle are all different, so the two cannot be swapped or combined.

Daily cost depends far more on how much you use than on which product you pick, so the figures below are worked examples rather than a fixed rule.

VOZOL: price per device

Rated puff counts are the maker’s maximums under test conditions. Longer or harder draws use the liquid faster, so most people get fewer puffs in real life. The simplest way to work out your own cost is to divide the price by the number of days a device actually lasts you.

TEREA: price per stick

The official IQOS UAE shop lists TEREA at AED 200 for 10 packs and AED 60 for a 3-pack discovery bundle, which is AED 20 a pack. A pack holds 20 sticks, so each stick costs about AED 1.

Nicotine: VOZOL vs TEREA

VOZOL: most VOZOL disposables sold here contain 50 mg/ml nicotine salt (5%). The Gear Power 20000 is also available at 20 mg/ml (2%). Nicotine salt is smoother on the throat at high strengths than freebase nicotine, which is why disposables use it. The VOZOL salt nicotine range lists the options.

TEREA: the IQOS UAE product pages do not list a nicotine figure per stick; they state only that the product contains nicotine, which is addictive. Figures you may see quoted elsewhere come from different laboratory test methods and are not directly comparable with each other.

Why you cannot convert one to the other: a vape is labelled by nicotine concentration in the liquid (mg/ml), while a heated tobacco stick is a fixed session. How much nicotine actually reaches you depends on the heating method, puff length, how often you puff and how you inhale. TEREA means carrying two things: a charged ILUMA and a pack of sticks. Each session has a fixed length, after which you remove the used stick. Store sticks away from heat and direct sun, which matters in a UAE summer.

UAE rules for vapes and heated tobacco

Both categories are legal for adults in the UAE. The national standard UAE.S 5030:2018 covers e-cigarettes, e-liquids and heated tobacco products, including labelling and packaging, and came into force on 14 April 2019 (Tobacco Control Laws; MoIAT). Compliant products carry the required certification and the UAE digital tax stamp. Buy from a seller who supplies genuine, stamped stock.
